Outside some establishments in Singapore there are signs that say "NO TOUTING". This is the equivalent of our "NO VENDORS ALLOWED". Clarissa kindly explained the term to me, and this evening Teow Li reminded me of it.
Poverty is always relative, and some "poor" people in Singapore stand outside establishments to sell tiny packets of tissue paper.
In the Philippines, of course, vendors are more creative and sell cigarettes, lighters, matches, candy in all favors, peanuts, mineral water, flowers, balls, badminton rackets, toy helicopters, marionettes, solar-powered bobbleheads, fishing rods, helmets, feather dusters, sun shields, even full-length hat and coat stands! Have I missed anything?
