Before buying any souvenirs, ask yourself the following:

1. Do hundreds or thousands of other people have it, because it is mass-produced?
2. Will it accrue in value or will it just be trash a few years from now?
3. Is it something that you really need and want or are you shopping only because you are lonely, homesick, and anxious?
4. Is it a work of art or merely a handicraft?
5. Can you see it being loved inside your house?
