Watched "The Big Tall Wish" from Jaime's The Twilight Zone DVD set. About an aging boxer who tries to make a comeback--and receives some help from a boy who makes a magical wish. The ending has a twist, though.
Love how the boxing match was portrayed. It wasn't in the manner you see boxing on TV today. It was a brisk montage of extreme close-ups of the hands and faces of the viewers in the audience.
Also love that middle-lower-class roof deck set.
And oh, it was a time when boxing shorts were really short and sexy.
Also watched "A Nice Place to Visit" from the same series.. About a hardened criminal who gets shot dead by policemen but is awakened by a spirit guide who gives him everything he has ever desired...except for one important thing he never guessed.
I've memorized Rod Serling's spiel by now: "There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone."
The DVD set is a collection of Season 1 episodes, all in black and white. Very vintage Rod Serling. Also meaning that the music was different. It wasn't what you always thought was the iconic Twilight Zone music.
